all about our gig at the Jericho Tavern, Oxford
- Thursday 21st Januray 2008
Sadly, no photos, recordings or videos of this gig exist, but Pete, Mark, & Tony played their hearts out.
Here's a quote from our book of the month to give you sustenance:
"If all groups of labour are to continue to improve their financial well-being (and all current social surveys indicate that they wish to do this above all else), then the only 'exploitable' resources that can continue to suffer without fear of political backlash are the natural environment and the amenities of our social existence. Faced with the choice between a definite curtailment in real income and increased environmental stress, which will be the less unacceptable? In the absence of major political and institutional reform, the majority will opt for the latter course without any calculation of the likely consequences of such a decision. For instance the affluent middle income groups of North America and Europe are currently providing a spirited and remarkably successful opposition to the furtherance of nuclear power. Will their efforts be so widely supported when these people are confronted with an actual shortage of electric power?"
